Her inspiration is taken from all the natural wonders & contrasts of Africa and combining it with modern technique, which allows Gudrun to express her art in such an unique manner. Passers by have been known to come to a sudden standstill as they admire her pieces in complete awe. Available is a huge variety of art, ranging from precious stones to diamonds and many other materials that are used, such as porcupine quills, camelthorn wood and various metals. Many International awards have been awarded to Gudrun and her team for their extraordinary and amazingly inspirational pieces of art. Gudrun is dedicated to her craftmanship and the influence of African cultures. This is evident in all the marvels produced but the influence goes as far as east Africa, north Africa and west Africa. The art pieces are designed that they can be worn as everyday accessories. As Gudrun states, we are all part of this remarkable continent, where we are influenced by its’ people and landscapes. The art is not “copied” from that of the European art but instead the originality is always true to the craftsman. African Art Jewellers has a shop at Hendrik Witbooi Street and Sam Nujoma Avenue, both in Swakopmund. They continue to challenge themselves and constantly experimenting with new materials and new approaches, but never allowing the quality to diminish.
